Alphabet Shower: With this type of shower, each guest is assigned a letter. For instance, those assigned with the letter “C” might bring a cake stand, cookie sheets, ceramic bowls, just to name a few.

For instance, your first course might be apple and butternut squash soup with bread, followed by chicken teriyaki strips mixed with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. For desert, you may consider a peach galette made with slices of fresh yellow peaches in a simple butter crust. The idea is to use your imagination to follow the alphabet theme.

Bling: This theme is a lot of fun and incorporates a lot of items with “bling.” The more jeweled items, the better. Include tiaras, pop rings, and lettering that features sparkly stones.

Butterfly: A butterfly is a beautiful theme since it is a metaphor for how a relationship evolved from a caterpillar to a full fledged butterfly. With so many varieties of butterflies, the result will be a colorful bridal shower.

Bride’s Favorite Color: This theme is a great way to decorate using the bride’s favorite color or colors.

Candy or Chocolate: Perfect for a bride with a candy or chocolate fetish. Indulge your guests with candy or chocolates by setting up a candy or chocolate bar. This is sure to be a hit!

Garden: For brides who have a passion and love for all things green, this theme is ideal. Ask your guests to shower the bride-to-be with beautiful potted plants, ferns, and flowers. Also, anything related to gardening, such as garden tools, watering cans, and decorative accents like a garden statue or garden art is welcome.

To help complete the theme, you may wish to consider hosting this shower in a garden or at a park.

Holiday: This theme is loads of fun since every holiday is included. Assign each guest a holiday, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Eve and ask that the gifts be something the couple can use for each holiday. For instance, if a guest is assigned Christmas, then consider giving the bride-to-be a set of holiday ornaments.

Kitchen: A kitchen shower is wonderful for a gourmet bride. Ask your guests to choose gifts that the bride might need, such as cooking utensils, gadgets, cookware, bake ware, countertop appliances, and cook books.

Round the Clock: With this theme, guests are assigned one of the twenty-four hours in a day. The guests then select a shower gift based on their assigned time. For instance, if a guest is assigned 8am, she might bring assorted tea or coffee, a set of mugs, a tea pot, coffee maker, or kitchen towels.

Consider designing a menu that covers various hours of the day. For instance, Three O’Clock Finger Sandwiches, Five O’Clock Barbeque Ribs, and Six O’Clock Chocolate Ganache. There are endless food choices. Let your imagination run free!

As you know, “Something blue” is part of the expression, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” The four objects that the bride carries with her on her wedding day are essentially good luck charms that are given to her by her mother, sister, other relatives, and friends at the eleventh hour. The idea of something old is symbolic of continuity; something new represents optimism for the future; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue means purity, love, and fidelity.

Spa: Pamper the bride-to-be with a spa shower theme. It’s a girlie way to indulge in facials, manicures, and massages.

Sports: For those die hard sports gals, a sports theme centered around her favorite team or sport makes for a wonderful bridal shower.

Include tea pots of different styles to enhance the decor. And of course, don’t forget the tea sandwiches. Some favorite varieties consist of cucumber, cream cheese, and watercress; smoked salmon and cream cheese; cucumber, cheese, and mint; minted radish; turkey and smoked Gouda with thin apples slices. For dessert, some dainty and delicious treats to consider are petit fours, mini lemon cakes, Madeleines, scones with jam, and petit cupcakes. For a sophisticated touch, serve them on a 3-tier plate.

Travel: A travel theme that captures the spirit of travel is a wonderful idea for a world traveler. Consider including destinations that the bride has visited as well as future dream destinations. Some ideas include arranging postcards, maps, and travel photos on a pin board as a visual centerpiece. A suitcase further enhances the theme. Include anything that you feel is travel inspired to complete the look.

Go all out and consider some of decorating with items such as, a bale of straw, barbed wire garland, cactus lights, a plastic longhorn skull and wagon wheel, wanted posters, a western bar scene, a western barn scene, a western saloon entrance, and wanted poster stand in to be used as a photo op. And don’t forget to pin the Sheriff’s badge on the bride-to-be.

Wine: For wine connoisseurs, a wine theme is an elegant way to enjoy wine tasting with good friends. Consider asking your guests to bring two selections of wine. One can be enjoyed at the party and the other one can be added to the bride’s collection. To complement the wine, serve a fresh fruit plate, along with Camembert and Chevre cheeses and rustic breads. An excellent dessert choice is cheesecake. Use empty bottles of wine as decor and a basket consisting of faux fruit. The idea is to give it more of a Tuscan feel where the emphasis is on old world charm.
