Brown Leather Lounge in a Beach Theme?
(New South Whales, Australia)
I'm aiming for a beach/coastal feel to our home overall. Currently, our lounge room has 2 mocha walls and a dark blueish/green feature wall in textured paint. I'm keen on getting a dark leather lounge for the practical advantages (easy to clean, doesn't show the dirt). Can I make that work in a beachy feel?
I'm planning to paint the blueish/green wall a more neutral colour, "linen" like, to lighten the very dark room, and go with a more neutral/earthy type of beachy look, not a bright blue/yellow look. The lounge is actually half of a long room, the other end is the kitchen and dining room. The dining room has the "linen" type colour on the walls and I have a white painted cupboard, white chairs and timber table. The two rooms don't have to "match" but need to flow in to each other. What do you think?
Giorgina's Answer: A dark leather couch can be successfully incorporated into a coastal style. Since you are painting the walls a different color, you may wish to consider adding accent pillows made of canvas that feature a beach theme to help tie everything together.
