With regards to cardiovascular benefits, cayenne and other red chili peppers have been shown to reduce blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and platelet aggregation, while increasing the body's ability to dissolve fibrin, which is a substance that is important to the formation of blood clots.  It has been found that cultures that liberally consume hot peppers like cayenne have a much lower rate of heart attacks, stroke and pulmonary embolism. 

Chili peppers are also credited for preventing ulcers since it kills bacteria you may have ingested, while powerfully stimulating the cells lining the stomach to secrete protective buffering juices that prevent ulcer formation. 
 

Another benefit of eating chili peppers is that it helps fight inflammation since it possesses a potent inhibitor of a natural chemical called Substance P, which is a neuropeptide associated with inflammatory processes. 

Capsaicin is being studied as an effective treatment for sensory nerve fiber disorders that include pain associated with arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetic neuropathy. 

Studies revealed that animals had a delayed onset of arthritis when fed a diet that contained capsaicin even after being injected with a substance that causes inflammatory arthritis.  The animals also had significantly reduced paw inflammation.

Another study concluded that Capsaicin helped stop the spread of prostate cancer. 

The capsaicin triggered death in both primary types of prostate cancer cell lines.  It dramatically slowed the development of prostate tumors that were formed by the human cell lines grown in mouse models. 

The dosage administered to mice that produced those effects was equal to approximately 5 Habanero peppers a week for an average adult man.

Capsaicin is also a thermogenic compound, which increases the metabolic rate and helps in the fat burning process. 

It also effectively opens and drains congested nasal passages because the peppery heat stimulates secretions that help clear mucus. 

Lastly, chili peppers are considered an effective treatment for cluster headaches and osteoarthritis pain.
