Christian Wall Decor
by Giorgina Devereaux
Inspirational Christian wall
decor is an extension of ourselves. For some of us,
religion plays an integral part in our lives.
We find comfort in reading the
bible and it serves as a guide on how to deal with challenges that life presents
by applying passages to our own circumstances.
To honor our beliefs, some of us
surround our home with inspirational Christian wall decor because it brings us peace
and fills us with strength.
Although there are many religious decorative items
to choose from, our focus will be on Christian wall decor since many have
expressed interest in this topic.
Proverbs 23:7 says,
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
In other words, as a man thinketh,
so is he.

Our thoughts brought us to where we are today and our thoughts will
take us where we need to go.
This is a very powerful passage. Positive
thoughts plant the seed for positive outcomes and negative thoughts lead to
negative circumstances.
We can think ourselves into good circumstances or into a bad situation. Despite what is going on in our life, how we view our
circumstances makes all the difference in the world.
We can see our life as the
glass being half empty or half full. The choice is ours.
The power of
thought is amazing.
This passage is parallel to the law of attraction in the
world famous book, “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. The book teaches how positive
thoughts function as magnets that attract happiness, health, and wealth.
The
movie, “The Secret,” gives examples of people who used the power of thought to
attract what they wanted in their life – whether it was the ideal mate, health,
or wealth.
One of the individuals in the movie taped currency on the ceiling
and later became wealthy. His thoughts led him on a road that ultimately
brought him into a successful venture.
On that note, for
some of us, displaying inspirational or decorative Christian wall decor enables
us to remain positive in our thoughts and goals. It serves as a reinforcement
of our beliefs while bringing us joy and renewed strength daily.
There are many
choices when it comes to Christian wall decor that you may find yourself torn
between two or three beautiful items. However, which wall decor you settle on
could depend on what inspires you the most and trying to stay within a certain
budget.
Here are some ideas
to help you get started:
Christian Wall Art
Canvas: You
can find a nice selection of canvas reproductions framed in intricately carved,
gilded, solid wood frames, such as gold leaf, brown, or black frames.
The frame
enhances the art piece and draws in the eye.
For instance, there is a stunning
framed canvas replica called, “Madonna and Child” by Raphael (1483-1520). The
beauty about these canvas reproductions is that they look authentic and the
stretched canvas replica captures the original texture of the painting, depth of
color, and brushstrokes.
A canvas painting
looks incredible in the foyer displayed above a console cabinet or above the
fireplace mantle.
AllPosters.com
has an extensive collection of Christian art, which you can customize virtually
any way you'd like to suit your Christian wall decor.
Framed Prints:
If a canvas reproduction does not fit your budget, perhaps consider a framed
art print.
You can select the size of your print, the mat, and frame color.
You can find art prints that only feature pictures, an inspirational message, or
a biblical passage.
Tapestry:
There are exquisite Christian wall decor tapestries to choose from.
Some display Leonardo da Vinci’s, “The Last Supper,” while others have images of Jesus, the 23rd
Psalm, Christ helping a child, and more.
The material that these tapestries are
made from varies, with some being made from a Jacquard woven cotton blend
tapestry or a cotton and viscose blend.
Also, you can find them fully lined and
finished including a tapestry rod sleeve for ease of hanging. You can pick from
beautiful rods and tassels to further enhance the beauty of the tapestry. It
will make for a dramatic display anywhere in your home.
Retablo:
Retablos probably have their origins with the Christian knights of the Crusades
and the Spanish reconquista.
Since the Christian warriors were frequently far
away from their home churches, they carried small box altars that they used for
worship and protection against the enemy.
The earliest versions of retablos
generally featured religious themes.
Retablos are
absolutely lovely and add an incredible amount of beauty to a room.
You can
find these hand-painted in oil on canvas and framed in intricately hand-carved
wood. They look beautiful hung in a set of three, or if you prefer, you can
just hang one.
Christian Wall Plaques
Decorative Wall
Plaque:
Decorative Christian wall plaques are a fabulous way to display a powerful
message or a beautiful image of Christ.
It’s a reminder of our beliefs and what
is important to us.
You can find wall
plaques that are made from resin or have a resin and metal combination for that
added variety.
Wall Frieze:
Wall friezes come in different styles and sizes. They look beautiful
adorning a wall and will fill a privileged place in your home.
Typically, wall
friezes are sculpted in designer resin and finished with the patina of an aged
stone.
You can find these
in, for instance, Leonardo da Vinci’s famed work, “The Last Supper.” What an
exquisite addition this will make to your home.
Wall Pediment:
A wall pediment adds a lot of beauty and can be displayed alone or atop a
doorway, painting, tapestry, or window. Most have the appearance of being
sculpted and include fine details.
Wall Shelf:
A wall shelf that has an inspirational message, such as, “The Lord is My
Strength” makes the perfect statement in your home.
Not only are these
available with a shelf that is grooved, which is ideal for displaying decorative
dishes, but they also have hooks that are great for hanging up keys or other
small loose items. The shelves also come in a dark cherry stain or in an
antique white finish.
Other messages include, “In Everything Give Thanks,” “Be
Still, and Know That I am God,” “God Bless Our Home,” and “Great is Thy
Faithfulness.”
Mirrored Wall Art
Wall
Mirror with Hooks:
Mirrors give the appearance that a room is larger. If that is your goal or you
simply prefer mirrors in general, then consider an inspirational art piece that
is mirrored. You can find one, for instance, with the Serenity Prayer etched in
it.
In addition, the Serenity Prayer mirror is framed in wood and has sturdy
porcelain and brass hooks around the frame perfect for hanging small items as
part of your Christian wall decor.
Etched mirrors are lovely because the
shading and depth of the original art can be reproduced in realistic detail. It
is a unique way to bring beautiful prayer into your home while making a
wonderful display that you’ll enjoy for years to come.
Wall Lettering:
Another way to bring inspirational touches to your Christian wall decor is through a wall
quote.
You can have these quotes custom made in the size, color, font, and
quote of your choice. They are available with an easy to apply adhesive and the
lettering is vinyl.
If you prefer to have it made in a stencil, then that’s
another option.
Also, you can finish off the quote with a decorative
embellishment, such as a floral design. There are many embellishments to choose
from and it adds a touch of beauty to your quote.
Here are some ideas
for wall lettering quotes:
-
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean
not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall
direct your paths.
-
Be still and know that I am God.
-
Christ is the
center of our home, a guest at every meal, a silent listener to every
conversation.
-
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
-
I will
say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.
Perpetual Calendar:
You
can keep track of each day by displaying a perpetual calendar consisting of
meaningful Christian images.
Each month, you will enjoy a new inspirational
passage from the Bible, which is showcased on its own special collector plate.
It is a fabulous way to mark Holy Days and other upcoming events.
One added
bonus is that you won’t need to replace your calendar again.
Wall Clock:
A Christian wall clock is a great way to tell time while enjoying beautiful
images of Jesus.
Other wall clocks depict the names of the 12 Apostles or bear
the words, “Jesus Loves You.”
It makes for a beautiful decorative display in
your kitchen or home office.
Wall Fountain:
Welcome peace into your home with the soothing sound of trickling water from
a wall fountain. You can find these in lightweight fiberglass with the
appearance of antique stone. It adds an inspiring touch of elegance.
