Christmas Mantel Decorations?

by Debbie
(Illinois)

I am in need of some ideas for decorating my mantel for Christmas. It is a 9 ft. mantel and I have always had a hard time deciding what to do with it.

Giorgina's Answer: Decorating a mantel is among my favorite decorative tasks during the holiday season.

Here are some ideas to help you on your way to making your mantel look fabulous that is sure to dazzle family and friends.

*A fantastic way to add an incredible amount of beauty to your mantel is by dressing it up with a pre-lit faux garland swag. The garland is realistic looking and features lush greenery mixed with pine cones, beaded ornaments, gold glitter tips, sugar beaded fruit, and red glitter sprays. You can find garland that is 9’ long. Simply drape the garland over the mantel and if the swag is a little longer than your mantel, then you may allow the remaining garland to dangle over each side.

*Another idea is to hang a pre-lit faux wreath above the mantel to bring sparkle to the overall area and to help further enhance the accessories that will be displayed on the mantel.

*Some great accessories to include on the mantel are colorful Christmas stockings. You can find an abundance of lovely Christmas stockings that are made in, for instance, red/gold brocade fabric, velvet, and feature a tassel.

*You may also want to consider displaying a set of antique gold colored trumpeting angels by placing one on each end of the mantel.

These angels will elegantly frame a mantel and the lights from the wreath and garland swag will play beautifully off the gold color of the angels creating a magical look to the mantel.

*Other ideas include displaying:

-A collectible Santa that is clad in a red coat and bearing gifts
-A small nativity scene
-A Christmas fairy
-A trio of holiday elves
-Nutcracker figurines
-A couple of mini faux spiral topiaries set in gold urns
-Gold candle holders in varying sizes that contain gold pillar candles.
