Curtains for Family Room?
by Cheryl
(Concord, NH)
In my family room I have a set of patio doors with 6 inches between them. This is approximately 157 inches. I would like to have a single width panel on each side and a double panel in the middle. I have not been able to find a rod larger than 148 inches. I have considered 3 poles, but can't figure out how to close the curtains.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Giorgina's Answer: Based on the description of your doors, it sounds like they are French doors. If they are French doors, then please consider having double cellular shades that have a top down/bottom up feature installed on these doors. This will allow you to control the amount of light that enters the room while providing insulation.
Installing cellular shades will eliminate the need for curtains and multiple rods. By opting for cellular shades, you don’t have to worry about the possibility that curtain panels will get stepped on or jammed in the door when family and friends enter and exit. Since the family room and patio is a high traffic area, it’s important to have window treatments that are family friendly. Best of luck to you.
