Some Tips on Where to Install
Decorative House Numbers and Address Plaque
The best place to install house
numbers or an address plaque is near the front door and within a radius of the
porch light. Generally, installing house numbers above the front door is a good
idea.
Try to install the numbers or address plaque within close proximity of
the front door and above eye level. This will help visitors and delivery people
readily locate your home and will prevent the numbers from being blocked by cars
that park in front of your home.
When positioning the house numbers or
address plaque, make sure that they are unimpeded by landscaping and that it
faces the street.
If your front door faces the street, then consider placing
the house numbers or plaque next to the door. Otherwise, place the house
numbers or plaque at another front facing location.
If the house numbers
are not the lighted type, make sure they are positioned in such a manner that
they take advantage of the porch or yard lighting. An address that may be
clearly visible in the daytime can be obscured by darkness. If you cannot
position the house numbers or plaque near an illuminated area, then consider
adding a small light above it.
