Hanging Three Etched Octangular Mirrors in Dining Room

by Karen
(New York)

I have 3 etched octangular mirrors that are 26 inches each. Each of the sides measures 11 inches. I will hang these in the dining area of a great room. The wall measures 130 inches wide and 67 inches from the top of the chair rail to the bottom of the ceiling molding (floor to top of chair rail about 32 inches). I was thinking of hanging the middle mirror slightly higher. What would be the most aesthetic arrangement and the proper heights and spacing for these decorative mirrors? Thank you very much for your guidance.

Giorgina's Answer: In this case, you can hang the center mirror slightly higher in order to reflect other interesting surroundings.

Try to avoid hanging mirrors in areas where light fixtures will directly reflect into the mirror, which could be very uncomfortable for family and guests because of the glare. When hanging a mirror, there should be no less than 6 feet of distance between the floor and the top of the mirror. The distance between the floor and the bottom of the mirror should measure at least 1 and a half feet.

Decorating is so personal and what may appeal to one person may not suit another person’s tastes.
