Mixing Trim Finishes

by Connie
(Ohio)

Can we have stained trim, doors & windows and painted crown molding in the same room?

Giorgina's Answer: While you can have stained trim, doors, and windows and then painted crown moldings, my recommendation is to have one or the other (painted or stained for all) to provide a unified look. However, if you decide to stain the crown moldings, it could give the appearance that the room is smaller depending on whether the stain is dark.
