Painting Walls and Ceilings?

by Rebecca
(Charlotte, NC)

I want to paint my walls in a glossy black color, but have white trim and a white popcorn ceiling. Is there a rule so that all will flow together without looking awkward from another room with white ceilings and trim. I’m afraid the contrast of the white trim and ceilings will not achieve the look I am wanting.

Giorgina's Answer: I understand your concerns. However, for the most part, trim is generally kept a lighter color to allow for a more unified look throughout the home. Perhaps you may wish to consider painting your trim a little darker to see how it looks when you transition from one room to the next.
