Stain Flooring to Match Walnut Laminate?

by Heather

I'm just looking for advice on flooring. We recently put a nice walnut colored laminate in our basement and the walls are in two shades of blue (light and medium shades). We are debating what to do with our stairs. We have purchased oak for the stairs, and our debate is this: should we leave them in their natural color or should we stain them to match the walnut laminate?

Giorgina's Answer: Although there are different variations of walnut colored laminate flooring, if yours happens to be on the lighter side, then the natural colored oak stairs will coordinate with your floor. However, if the walnut laminate flooring is on the darker side, then you may want to consider staining the stairs to create a unified look.
