What Color Flooring Would Go Best with Dark Wood Paneling?

Hi we are thinking to renovate our basement, it was covered with dark wood paneling, we are now putting a platform around our fireplace to raise the floor up, I was wondering what is the best color to go with the paneling! My bf is thinking to go even darker but I think lighter would be better. I would love for a second opinion!
